The Kirals took part in the inaugural weekend of Towpath Productions' canal-borne gigs and made it onto the front page of the Oxford Mail. We played 16 songs (old, new and covers) on board the barge Progress as she motored gently down the Oxford Canal from Aristotle Lane to Isis lock and back again. Towpath Productions' Stuart Miller was at the helm, while Steve B, himself a singer and banjo player (@stevewithabeard), was shoreman, and Ryan Quarterman (also a musician in multiple bands) filmed and recorded the entire event. Sitting on the tiny foredeck, we played and sang to walkers on the towpath, residents sunning themselves in the gardens backing onto the canal, passing canoeists and other boat-people, and friends of the crew and band who had come out to enjoy this wonderful sun-drenched spring afternoon, an optimistic tonic after so long without live music. It was a magical experience .
